About Matt Peterson
The practice of Matt Peterson ADR Services, LLC, focuses on mediation and arbitration of complex civil lawsuits. He spent nearly 40 years as a trial lawyer defending health care providers, other professionals and product manufacturers and trying those and a variety of other civil lawsuits, including employment and insurance issues. He tried many cases throughout Alaska in both federal and state courts. For the last several years at the end of his legal career he transitioned into work as a mediator, arbitrator, hearing officer, and court appointed discovery master. He retired from his legal career, from the Bar Association and his law firm at the end of 2023.
Mr. Peterson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law. Mr. Peterson has taught many CLE’s and lectured on mediation, tort law in Alaska, legal responsibilities of health care, Alaska Constitutional History, and trial skills. Mr. Peterson had an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell during his legal career. As a result of peer reviews by Alaska attorneys from both the defense and plaintiffs’ bars, he was selected to become a member of The National Association of Distinguished Neutrals in 2015. He is a Retired Emeritus Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves as a Board member of the Professional Mediators of Alaska. While a member of the Alaska Bar Association through the end of 2023, Matt served on many committees and professional groups through the Bar. These included ten years as a Member of the Bar’s Committee on Fair and Impartial Courts, service as an arbitrator for the Fee Arbitration Committee, and an active member of the Bar’s Mediation and Arbitration Section.
